KIPP Houston: offers PK-3 and PK-4 options.  Learn about various KIPP campus zip code areas and grade level entry, plus details about KIPP's lottery process and how to apply here.

Catholic Schools: Many Catholic Parishes house PK-3 through 8th Grade schools.  Find a school near you through the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston's interactive map.

Kindergarten through High School

Kindergarten is a fundamental entry point to many elementary schools.  While students can apply to schools at any time throughout elementary school, Kindergarten is the best entry point to a school of choice.

In HISD,a student's performance (grades, behavior, standardized test scores, etc.) in 4th grade is used to determine entry to middle schools beginning in 6th grade.

  • HISD's Magnet Office provides applications to magnet schools as well as links to Vanguard programs and applications
  • Other School Choice options exist in HISD such as transfers from within the district as well as transfers from other districts.

In charter schools, entry points vary by grade levels, depending on the school.

Spring Branch ISD, accepts transfer applications from within the district as well as from outside the district.
